Jaromír Nohavica, born on June 7, 1953, in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia, is a singer and songwriter known for his contributions to folk music. He began playing guitar at 13 and initially studied at the Technical University of Ostrava before pursuing freelance lyricist work. Nohavica's breakthrough came with his first song "Lásko, voníš deštěm" (You Smell of Rain, My Love), a cover version of Black Sabbath’s "She's Gone", which he wrote for Marie Rottrová. Nohavica started performing publicly in 1982, and his debut album Darmoděj was released in 1989. His subsequent albums include Mikymauzoleum (Mickey Mausoleum) (1993) and Tři čuníci (Three Piglets) (1994). In 1996, he collaborated with his producer to introduce new instruments and voices on the album Divné století, which became a significant success. Novahica communicates with his fans online and released the MP3 album Pražská pálená on his website for free, as well as the mini CD Od Jarka pod stromeček.
