Lovage was a collaborative project headed by Dan the Automator, under his pseudonym Nathaniel Merriweather, a persona he created for the project Handsome Boy Modeling School. The group featured Jennifer Charles and Mike Patton on vocals, along with contributions from various artists including Damon Albarn of Blur, Kid Koala, Maseo of De La Soul, and Afrika Bambaataa. Initially conceived as a tribute to Serge Gainsbourg, they evolved into a unique project blending sensuality, humor, and self-deprecation. Their sole album, Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By, was released in 2001. The album is characterized by its trip-hop influences and sensuous themes, with tracks like "Lies and Alibies" and "Book of the Month". The group disbanded in 2002.
