Frédéric Metayer, known professionally as Fred Metayer, was born in Maurepas, Île-de-France, France, in 1973. He is a French singer-songwriter who began his career as an educator before transitioning into music. His early songs explored themes of personal growth and societal pressures, blending various genres including rock, reggae, and hip-hop. Metayer's debut album Sauter Du Nid was released in 2002. In 2007, he collaborated with producer Jean Lamoot to record part of his album Mes graines (2008) at Studio Moffou in Bamako, Mali. In 2013, he released La Morsure (2013), recorded by Julien Gaulier. Throughout his career, Metayer performed on various stages across France and participated in notable tours such as Alain Bashung’s La Tournée des grands espaces and Bleu pétrole tour.
