Wayne County & the Electric Chairs was an American-British punk rock band formed in London, England, in 1977. The group was led by Georgia-born singer Jayne County, then performing under the name Wayne County, who had previously performed in New York with Queen Elizabeth and Wayne County and the Backstreet Boys. Upon moving to London with guitarist Greg Van Cook, County formed the Electric Chairs with bassist Val Haller and drummer Chris Dust, releasing the single "Fuck Off" in November 1977. Their self-titled debut album, The Electric Chairs, was released in February 1978. Following the deportation of Dust, John 'JJ' Johnson joined on drums, and the band recruited guitarist Henry Padovani on rhythm guitar. Their second album, Storm the Gates of Heaven (1978), also released as Man Enough to Be a Woman, was produced by Martin Birch. The group performed the song "Paranoia Paradise" (1978) for the soundtrack of Derek Jarman's film Jubilee (1978), in which County made an acting appearance. Their third album, Things Your Mother Never Told You, was released in May 1979. The group disbanded shortly after, with guitarist Eliot Michael following County into a solo career
