Sväng, a Finnish harmonica quartet, was formed in 2003 at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. The quartet, consisting of Eero Turkka, Eero Grundström, Jouko Kyhälä, and Pasi Leino, initially came together for a composition and improvisation project that focused on Romanian folk music. Their debut album, Sväng, was released in 2005 by Aito Records Oy. The group's unique sound, characterized by the use of electrically amplified harmonicas with effects like distortion, blends influences from polka, country, Finnish tango, ragtime, Sinti and Roma music, Balkan folk, jazz, and rock. Sväng gained international recognition in 2007 when they represented Finland at the World Music Expo. Their discography includes notable releases such as Jarruta (2008), Sväng plays Chopin (2010), Schladtzshe! (2010), and Karja-la (2014). Their 10th album, Svängo Nuevo, was released in 2024.
