Adolar, a German alternative band from Stendal, was formed on January 21, 2008. The group, consisting of four members, took its name from the Hungarian animated series Adolar's phantastische Abenteuer. Their initial release was the EP Planet Rapidia, released in 2009 on Unterm Durchschnitt and limited to 500 copies. In 2010, Adolar embarked on a European tour spanning England, France, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. Their first full-length album, Schwörende Seen, ihr Schicksalsjahre!, was recorded in a church and released in 2010. The band's second album, Zu den Takten des Programms, followed in 2011. In 2013, Adolar represented the state of Saxony-Anhalt at the Bundesvision Song Contest with "Halleluja", finishing fourteenth. Their album, Die Kälte der neuen Biederkeit, was released in 2013. The band announced its disbandment on November 30, 2014.
