Sunshiners is a reggae group composed of former members of the French group Mister Gang and singers from Vanuatu. Formed in 2001 in Noumea during a tour for the album Paris Lisbonne Pointe-à-Pitre, the project began when Mister Gang saxophonist Feal Le Rouzic met John Kapala of the group Krosrod. The project developed after Mister Gang's final album, Live in Kanaky (2003), leading to the group's debut. In 2004, the horn section of Mister Gang collaborated with Tryo on the album De bouches à oreilles... and met producer Bibou. The group's self-titled debut album, released on June 19, 2006, featured reggae covers of popular 1980s hits originally performed by artists including The Cure, Supertramp, and David Bowie. The group toured festivals including Solidays and released a second album, Welkam Bak Long Vanuatu (2007).
