White Willow, a progressive rock band from Norway, was founded in 1992. The group's initial lineup included Jacob Holm-Lupo and several other members who contributed to their debut album Ignis Fatuus, released in 1995. This melancholic retro-prog album featured strong folk influences. By 1998, the band had undergone significant changes, with only Holm-Lupo and Jan Tariq Rahman remaining, along with releasing their second album Ex Tenebris (1998). The subsequent album Ex Tenebris showcased a more symphonic arrangement. In 2000, White Willow released Sacrament, which saw a reduction in folk elements. The band continued to evolve, releasing Storm Season in 2004, which was noted for its harder and darker sound. After a hiatus, the group reformed in 2010 with a new lineup that included Ellen Andrea Wang on bass. Their album Terminal Twilight, released in 2011, marked a return to their earlier folk-infused retro-prog style. The band released their album Future Hopes in 2017.
