Necrony, a Swedish deathgrind band from Örebro, was founded in 1990 under the name Necrotony by guitarist, bassist, and singer Anders Jakobson and drummer Rickard Alriksson. The band released their first demo, Severe Malignant Pustule, in 1991, followed by the limited edition single "Mucu-Purulent Miscarriage". In 1993, Necrony released their debut album Pathological Performances, which featured guest appearances from Dan Swanö of Edge of Sanity and Johan Liiva of Carnage. The band's 1994 EP Necronycism: Distorting the Originals included covers of artists such as Carcass, Napalm Death, and Bolt Thrower, with Dan Swanö again contributing as a guest musician. Necrony disbanded in 1996, allowing Jakobson and Alriksson to focus on their side project Nasum. In 2005, the compilation Poserslaughter Classics Remasters was released, though it was not licensed by the band.
