Sammy Walker, born July 7, 1952, near Atlanta, Georgia, is an American folk singer-songwriter influenced by Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and Hank Williams. He emerged in the mid-1970s, releasing albums on Folkways Records and Warner Bros. Records. After hearing Walker on Bob Fass’s radio show in 1975, Phil Ochs offered to produce his debut album. Walker later recorded under producer Nick Venet and toured Europe in 1978 and 1986. Following an album of Woody Guthrie songs in 1979, he largely withdrew from recording until Old Time Southern Dream appeared in 2003, followed by Misfit Scarecrow (2008) and Brown Eyed Georgia Darlin’ (2016). His song “Days I Left Behind” featured in the Oscar-winning 2022 short film An Irish Goodbye.
