Marmaduke Duke was a Scottish conceptual rock duo originating from Ayrshire. Emerging in the early 2000s, the group carved out a niche in the local music scene before issuing their debut studio album, The Magnificent Duke, on 14 April 2005. The release was limited to 4,000 copies and peaked at number 37 on the UK Independent Albums Chart. After a period during which both members returned to their respective bands, Marmaduke Duke produced a second album, Duke Pandemonium, released on 11 May 2009. That same year, the lead single "Kid Gloves" was released in March 2009 and reached number 4 on the Scottish Singles Chart, while the second single, "Rubber Lover", became a commercial success in the United Kingdom following extensive radio airplay and peaked at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart. A third single, "Silhouettes", followed in July 2009 but failed to chart. Duke Pandemonium itself reached number 4 on the Scottish Albums Chart and number 14 on the UK Albums Chart. While the band's output remained limited to two albums, their releases achieved notable commercial success in their native Scotland and the wider UK.
