Ora Maté is the collaborative project of French DJs and producers Hugo Montel and Milan Toulouse, formed in 2007. The duo emerged from a shared interest in blending ethnic rhythms with mainstream house sounds. In 2007, they released the single “Kamaté”, a track sampling DJ Grégory's 2002 composition “Tropical Soundclash” and referencing the Maori haka; the single was adopted by French television channel TF1 as the theme for the 2007 Rugby Union World Cup broadcasts and entered the French charts at Number 1 in October 2007. In September 2007, under the Universal Music label, the duo released their debut album, Oceanism.
