Vanexa, an Italian heavy metal band formed in 1979 in Savona, was founded by Roberto Merlone on guitar, Sergio Pagnacco on bass, and Silvano Bottari on drums. The group's style was heavily influenced by British metal sounds typical of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). Vanexa participated as headliners at the Rock in a Hard Place Festival in Certaldo in 1983. Their debut album Vanexa was released in 1983 on Durium label, featuring Marco Spinelli on vocals. The band's second album, Back From The Ruins, followed in 1988 on Minotauro. After a hiatus, Vanexa released their third studio album, Against The Sun, in 1994 featuring Roberto Tiranti on vocals. In 2016, Too Heavy to Fly was released on Punishment 18 Records and Black Widow Records. Their most recent album Last to Black was released to the public in 2021.
