Nicole & Hugo was a Belgian pop ensemble established in 1970. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by pop and for representing Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1973. The ensemble consisted of the vocalist Nicole Josy, born Nicole van Palm, and the vocalist Hugo Sigal, born Hugo Verbraeken. They achieved professional recognition for a career that began after they won the Belgian selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Goeiemorgen, morgen" (1971) but missed the competition due to illness. Josy and Sigal married in 1971. Their recording career included the hit song "Baby Baby" (1973) which achieved professional recognition for being the first entry to combine dance and song at the Eurovision Song Contest. Nicole & Hugo achieved professional recognition for a career that included performing on cruise ships and releasing the studio recording Eeuwig geluk (2008). Their discography included the compilation recording Het beste uit 35 jaar (2005) and the studio recording Bedankt Vlaanderen (2012). The ensemble achieved professional recognition for receiving a Music Industry Award for Best Popular Artist in 2009 and being named honorary citizens of Wemmel in 2012. The group became inactive in 2017. Josy died on November 4, 2022.
