Mugison, born Örn Elías Guðmundsson on September 4, 1976, is an Icelandic musician from Ísafjörður and Bolungarvík in the Westfjords. After studying recording abroad, he created his debut album Lonely Mountain (2002) at home, earning international attention. He later composed the soundtrack for Friðrik Þór’s film Niceland (2004) and released Mugimama, Is This Monkey Music? (2004), which won Pop Album of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards. His next album, A Little Trip to Heaven (2005), took inspiration from Baltasar Kormákur’s film of the same name. Mugison has released several acclaimed albums, including Haglél (2011), and co-founded the annual Aldrei fór ég suður music festival with his father.
