Didier François is a Belgian musician and composer who was born in 1969 in Brussels. He studied the violin with Myriam Quersin and composition with Daan Manneke at the Amsterdam Conservatory between 1992 and 1999. François is a specialist in the nyckelharpa and is known for a unique playing technique and posture that he developed alongside builders Joos Janssens and Jean Claude Condi. He has held teaching positions at the Scuola di Musica Popolare di Forlimpopoli in Italy and the Burg Fürsteneck academy in Germany. His career includes collaborations with Stéphane Grappelli and Gabriel Yacoub, and he has recorded film scores for directors including Costa-Gavras and Yann Arthus Bertrand. François performed as a soloist for the Belgian Philharmonic's production of The Lord of the Rings. His recordings include the albums Falling Tree, Nyckelharpa solo (2011), and Baroque Update (2015).
