Biting Tongues were a post-punk band formed in Manchester, England in 1979 by saxophonist Howard Walmsley. The original lineup included Ken Hollings on vocals, Eddie Sherwood on drums, Graham Massey on guitar, and Colin Seddon on bass. In 1981, the band released Don't Heal, followed by Libreville in 1983. The band moved to Factory Records, undergoing lineup changes including the departure of Hollings and Sherwood. Notable releases during this period include the soundtrack to their film Feverhouse and the EP Trouble Hand (1985). After further singles and a video album titled Wall of Surf (1988), the band disbanded in 1989 following Massey's formation of 808 State. Biting Tongues reunited briefly in 2003 for a performance at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, and again in 2009 for A Factory Night event in Brussels.
