Failsafe, an English melodic rock band from Preston, Lancashire, England, was formed in 2000. Initially known as Duck Hunt, they began touring extensively after several lineup changes. Their debut album, What We Are Today, released in late 2005, received positive reviews from publications like Metal Hammer and Kerrang!. In 2008, Failsafe was tipped for success by NME and featured in Kerrang! magazine. Their second album, The Truth Is..., produced by Pete Miles, was released in 2008. On January 1, 2015, guitarist and vocalist Matthew Cogley died suddenly while on vacation in Belfast. Following Cogley's death, the remaining members, Andy Sprake, Rob Catlow, Simon Humphries, and Scott Bampton, formed a new band called WYRES and released their debut album Nothing Like Your Idols in 2023.
