Schönheitsfehler was founded in Vienna in 1992 by Milo, Operator Burstup, and Space Ant, later joined by DJ Megablast and MC Graffiti under the name Gainful Gallivants before merging with Illegal Movement to form Schönheitsfehler. The group released its first EP, Broj Jedan, in 1993 on their own Duck Squad label, which also launched early releases for Texta and Total Chaos. In 1996 the duo issued the albums Putz Di and Schönheitsfehler kommt, receiving extensive airplay on Ö3 and FM4 with tracks such as "Immer schön langsam" and "Boom – Und Du Schaust Doom Aus Der Wäsch", the latter reaching Number 1 on the FM4 listener chart. A 1998 tour with the band Heinz brought the group national attention, culminating in the single "Mein Ruf ist im Eimer". The 2000 album SexDrugsAndHipHop entered the Ö3 Austria Top 40 at position 20, while the single "Fuck You" peaked at Number 93 on the German singles chart. Schönheitsfehler earned a nomination for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in 2001. After a final tour in early 2005, the group disbanded following a farewell concert at Vienna’s Arena on 18 February 2005. A reunion performance took place at the 2015 Donauinselfest, and the group released the album #gutesleben in 2017.
