The Savage Rose, a Danish rock group, was formed in 1967 by brothers Thomas Koppel, Anders Koppel, and Alex Riel. Their debut album, The Savage Rose, was released in 1968. In the same year, they released In the Plain, which included the hit "Long Before I Was Born" and boosted their international recognition. The group performed at notable events such as the Newport Jazz Festival in 1969 and the Montreux Festival in 1970. They continued to evolve musically, releasing albums like Dødens triumf (1972) and Babylon (1972). Thomas Koppel passed away in 2006, but Annisette Hansen, his second wife, continued the band's legacy. The group was inducted into the Danish Culture Canon in 2006 and performed at the Roskilde Festival in 2017.
