Maia Sharp is an American singer and songwriter born in the Central Valley of California. She achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by country and rock and for her songwriting for musicians including Cher, Trisha Yearwood, and Bonnie Raitt. Sharp achieved professional recognition for a career that began after her family moved to Los Angeles at age four and she recorded her first song at age five. By age 12, she played the piano, saxophone, oboe, and guitar. Her recording career began with the debut studio recording Hardly Glamour (1997) released on the label Ark 21. Sharp achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Maia Sharp (2002) and the studio recording Fine Upstanding Citizen (2005).
