Steve Stollmeyer, known professionally as Steve Stoll, was born in 1967 in Staten Island, New York. He learned to play drums and later became interested in electronic music while drumming for Wax Trax! Records in the late 1980s. After serving in the US Army, including a stint in the Gulf War, Stoll began producing techno music. Throughout the mid-1990s and beyond, Stoll produced numerous minimal and acid techno releases, collaborating with artists such as Pete Namlook, Ken Ishii, Damon Wild, and Patrick Codenys of Front 242. Notable albums include Was Here (2003), Earthling (2004), and Exiled (2005). Stoll produced under various monikers, including Acid Farm, The Blunted Boy Wonder, Datacloud, Mr. Proper, Storm, and Systematic, and has run his own label, Proper NYC. He left the public eye around 2017.
