Sascha Funke is a Berlin-based producer and DJ whose distinctive sound moves between electronic music, house, minimal techno and leftfield club rhythms. Born in East Berlin, he has been a key figure in Berlin’s electronic music scene since the late 1990s. Over the years, he has developed a singular approach to dance music, combining hypnotic grooves, detailed sound design and an instinct for unexpected melodic turns. His acclaimed releases Mango, released on BPitch in 2008, and MZ, released on Turbo Recordings in 2016, stand as defining moments in his discography.Together with Julienne Dessagne, who also releases solo music as Fantastic Twins, he formed Saschienne and released the album Unknown on Kompakt in 2012, a deeply moving blend of pop songs, the repetitive magic of techno and live-recorded instrumentation. As Saschienne, they have performed at festivals and events including MUTEK Montréal and Mexico City, ADE, Electronic Beats, Lowlands, DGTL and Tauron Nowa Muzyka.Over the years, Funke’s work has been featured in publications including GQ, Musikexpress, Resident Advisor, Groove, Trax, Tsugi, DJ Mag, Spex, Libération, FAZ and Berliner Zeitung. He has contributed mixes to Radio Fritz, Radio Nova, Groove, Trax, Tsugi, Ransom Note, Les Yeux Orange, DHA and others, while his remixes include work for WhoMadeWho, Metronomy, Superpitcher, Gerd Janson, Gui Boratto, All We Are, Quarks and many more.His music has also been featured in syncs for brands including Samsung and APM Monaco, as well as in TV and film productions including FOX Sports, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and Netflix. He has also collaborated with artist and filmmaker Doug Aitken on musical projects for the Los Angeles Philharmonic.His new album, Planes In Reverse, will be released on Kompakt in November 2026.
