Ian Simmonds, born on March 22, 1966 in Wales, is an electronic musician known for his work under the pseudonym Juryman. He moved to London at age 18 and formed a collective called Sandals, which started a club in London Soho called Violets. In the mid-1990s, Simmonds began releasing music under his pseudonym Juryman, starting with EPs and collaborations such as Juryman vs Spacer: Mailorder Justice (2000). His solo debut LP Last States of Nature was released in 1999 by !K7. Notable albums include Juryman: The Hill (2000) and Escape to Where (2002). Simmonds collaborated with artists such as Leftfield, Goldfrapp, and Pressure Drop.
