After splitting with her band mate Tommy at the start of 2026, piri has been embracing the freedom of being her own artist. Her first solo project, ‘girl in stem’, is an album written, produced, mixed, mastered, released and visually conceived and designed 100% by piri herself.
After six years as part of piri&tommy, enjoying accolades such as being one of MTV’s push artists of 2022/23, one of NME’s 100 artists of 2022, Ticketmaster Breakthrough Artist, Spotify Global NMF Features and having their track ‘Soft Spot’ appear in Rolling Stone’s 200 greatest dance songs, the pair called it a day and have gone their separate ways. But that was never going to be the end of the story for the hugely talented duo.
piri explains: "In January this year I didn’t take myself seriously as a producer. In July I’ll be releasing a debut album entirely self produced, mixed and mastered by me!! Inspired by todd edwards, disclosure, little dragon, louis cole, caroline polacheck, countless jazz fusion and dance tunes, and of course piri&tommy, ‘girl in stem’ sounds like all the music I love in a completely new way. ‘girl in stem’ is all me, free flowing and with no expectations, leaving one chapter and starting the next, making stuff that I love. 10 tracks that assembled themselves into an album by a girl who is now finally in control of the fate of her own music.“
