Colorama is an eclectic musical project formed in 2007 by Welsh singer-songwriter and producer Carwyn Ellis. The group emerged after Ellis moved from London to Liverpool in 2006, initially performing as a duo with bassist David Fletcher. Colorama debuted with the single “Sound” in 2007, followed by the 2008 Japanese album release Cookie Zoo. After Fletcher died in 2009, Ellis expanded the lineup for extensive touring at festivals such as Glastonbury and Latitude. In September 2009, the band issued Magic Lantern Show, which featured the acclaimed Welsh-language song “Dere mewn”. Their 2010 album, BOX, earned a nomination for the inaugural Welsh Music Prize. Later that year, the single “Cerdyn Nadolig” reached Number 1 on the BBC Radio Cymru Christmas chart. Ellis continued with releases including Good Music in 2012 and Some Things Just Take Time in 2017. The 2020 album Chaos Wonderland received a second Welsh Music Prize nomination.
