Der Rote Bereich is a German jazz band formed as a quintet in 1992 in Nuremberg, Germany. Since 1998, the group has operated as a trio with an unusual jazz lineup of bass clarinet, electric guitar, and drums, featuring no bass player or piano. The band, currently consisting of guitarist Frank Möbus, alto saxophonist Christian Weidner, and drummer Oliver Bernd Steidle, released their debut album, Eins, in 1992, followed by Zwei in 1995 and Drei in 1998. They issued Love Me Tender in 2001, Risky Business in 2002, and the live album Live in Montreux in 2004, which was awarded the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik in 2005. The group was awarded the Neuer Deutscher Jazzpreis in March 2006, and subsequently released their seventh album, Der Rote Bereich 7, in 2010.
