808 Mafia is an American hip-hop production and songwriting collective from Atlanta, Georgia, that was founded in 2010 by producers TM88, Lex Luger, and Southside. The group’s name references the Roland TR-808 drum machine, a defining tool in hip-hop production. Originally formed by Waka Flocka Flame as a team of frequent collaborators, 808 Mafia expanded to include producers such as Fuse 100, Tarentino, Purps, Swede, and Nonstop Da Hitman. The collective released its debut instrumental mixtape, 808 Mafia, in 2012, followed by 808 Mafia II in 2013, featuring production from members including Southside, TM88, Purps, and Tarentino. Known for its trap-oriented sound, the group has contributed production to numerous hip-hop artists and recordings.
