Mother's Pride was formed in 1990 in Lucerne, Switzerland, by Tobi Gmür and Samuel Gallati. The group gained attention during Lucerne’s 1994 celebrations of the reconstruction of the Chapel Bridge, where they appeared on television covered only by a fig leaf, while playing from a boat beneath the bridge; this exposure led to an Australian tour in 1995. Their early recordings included the single "Take Me Back" (1990) and "My Baby Loves You" (2001). The band released the album Burn Baby Burn (1995) on Hamburger Records, followed by Half Past Heartache (1999) and Tommy Drives Me Home (2001) under Epic/Sony Music. After disbanding in 2001, Mother’s Pride re‑emerged with a self‑titled album in 2007 on Little Jig Records, and Love Comes Knocking in 2009. The group entered a hiatus in 2009, resuming activity in 2019, and released Wasted Years in 2024.
