Herman Chin-Loy, born on July 11, 1948, in Trelawny, Jamaica, is a Jamaican record producer. In the early 1970s, Herman Chin-Loy began producing innovative instrumentals with musicians such as Lloyd Charmers and The Hippy Boys, releasing tracks like "African Zulu" and "Shang I". He is credited with being the first producer to use the Now Generation Band and to record Horace Swaby, who later became known as Augustus Pablo. Chin-Loy's productions included notable artists such as Dennis Brown, Alton Ellis, and Bruce Ruffin, whose "Rain" reached number 19 in the UK singles chart. In 1973, he released one of the first dub albums, Aquarius Dub, mixed at Dynamic Studio. After a brief hiatus, Chin-Loy returned to reggae productions in 1979, scoring several hits with artists like Little Roy and Ernest Wilson.
