The Humblebums

The Humblebums were a folk rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, formed in 1965 by Billy Connolly and Tam Harvey. They gained local fame performing in small clubs and pubs. Their debut album, First Collection Of Merry Melodies, was released in 1969 on Transatlantic Records. Gerry Rafferty joined the band shortly after, contributing his songwriting skills and shifting the group's sound towards pop. The second album, The Humblebums, featured more of Rafferty's compositions. Their third and final album, Open Up The Door, was released in 1970. Despite their success, creative differences led to the band's dissolution in early 1971. Connolly pursued a career in comedy and acting, while Rafferty continued in music with Stealers Wheel and as a solo artist.
