Brass Monkey

Brass Monkey, an English folk band formed in 1982, was known for their innovative use of a brass section. The group consisted of Martin Carthy, John Kirkpatrick, Howard Evans, Roger Williams, and Martin Brinsford. Their debut album, Brass Monkey, was released in 1983, followed by See How It Runs in 1986. Both albums were later reissued as a compilation titled The Complete Brass Monkey in 1993. The band disbanded in 1987 due to scheduling conflicts but reunited in 1997 for a tour and subsequent album releases, including Sound & Rumour (1998), Going & Staying (2001), and Flame of Fire (2004). Despite Evans' death, the band continued with new members and released Head of Steam in 2009.
