The Chicharones, an American/Canadian alternative hip hop duo composed of Sleep (born Christopher Tafoya) and Josh Martinez, formed in 2001 after meeting at the South by Southwest music festival. The group debuted with the Boss Hogs EP in 2003, which received critical acclaim from URB magazine. They followed this with extensive touring and released their debut full-length album, When Pigs Fly, in 2005. In 2009, after a hiatus for solo projects, they reunited to release Swine Country. This album earned them an Independent Music Award for Best Rap Album in 2009 and a Northwest Music Award for Best Live Band. The Chicharones continued their prolific output with releases such as Swine Flew, which included the single "Hi Hey Hello" that was featured in a Brazilian Samsung Galaxy S4 Commercial.
