Maher Shalal Hash Baz is a Japanese experimental music collective centered on musician Fuyuki Kudo, with Reiko Kudo and euphonium player Hiroki Nakazaki as longtime core members. Formed in Tokyo, the group's name is derived from the biblical phrase "Maher-shalal-hash-baz" in Isaiah. Known for its constantly changing lineup and unconventional sound, the band first released self-produced cassettes before issuing January 14th 1989 Kyoto/Maher Goes to Gothic Country (1991) and the expansive Return Visit to Rock Mass (1996). International recognition followed after signing with Geographic, which released From a Summer to Another Summer (An Egypt to Another Egypt) (2000) and Blues du Jour (2003). They later released L'Autre Cap through K Records in 2006.
