Viikate, a Finnish heavy metal band from Kouvola, was formed in 1996 by Kaarle Viikate and Simeoni Viikate. Their initial releases included EPs such as Vaiennut soitto (1998) and Roudasta Rospuuttoon (1999). Viikate's debut album, Noutajan valssi, was released in 2000, followed by notable albums like Kaajärven rannat (2002) and Unholan urut (2005). In 2005, Arvo Viikate and Ervo Viikate joined the band, solidifying their lineup. Their discography includes hits such as "Pohjoista viljaa" and "Ei enkeleitä". The band's unique style, often described as "Helismaa-metal," garnered a dedicated following. Viikate continued to release albums, including Kuu kaakon yllä (2009) and Rillumarei! (2020).
