Prince Jazzbo, born Linval Roy Carter on September 3, 1951, inClarendon Parish, was a Jamaican reggae and dancehall deejay and producer. Raised in Kingston, he began his career performing with sound systems such as The Whip before recording for Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One label in the early 1970s. He also worked with producers Glen Brown, Lee "Scratch" Perry, and Bunny Lee, while releasing music through his own Ujama label. His early Studio One recordings produced hits including "School," "Fool For Love," and "Imperial I" between 1972 and 1974. Prince Jazzbo was also known for his friendly lyrical clash with fellow toaster I-Roy in 1975. He died on September 11, 2013.
