4th Avenue Jones was an American alternative hip hop band from Los Angeles, California. The band was formed by Ahmad Ali Lewis, known as Ahmad. In 1997, after Ahmad's success with his platinum single "Back in the Day" (1994), he formed Lookalive Records and began rehearsals for the band. The group officially formed in 2000 and released their first album, No Plan B. They signed with Interscope Records but left due to creative differences. After going independent, they released several albums, including Respect (2002), the compilation Gumbo (2003), and HipRockSoul (2004). Their breakthrough came with Stereo: The Evolution of HipRockSoul (2005), which earned them a Dove Award nomination.
