Chris Thomas King, born Durwood Christopher Thomas on October 14, 1962 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is an American blues musician and actor. The son of blues musician Tabby Thomas, King began his career under the name Chris Thomas. He released early recordings such as Blue Beat (1984) and The Beginning (1986). In 1997, he released his self-titled album Chris Thomas King. King is known for pioneering rap/blues fusion with the concept album 21st Century Blues… from da Hood (1994) for RCA Records. He formed 21st Century Blues Records and established Young Blues Rebel, LLC. His acting roles include portraying Tommy Johnson in the Coen brothers' film O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), where he performed "Hard Time Killing Floor Blues" on the soundtrack. King also starred as Lowell Fulson in the Oscar-winning film Ray (2004).
