Circle of Dead Children, an American deathgrind band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was formed in 1998. Following the breakup of Joe Harvath and Jason Andrews' previous band .blackwel., the two joined with John Kubacka, David Good, and Jon Miciolek to form Circle of Dead Children. The band self-financed a demo self-titled cassette, which sold out at their first two live shows. Their debut full-length album, Starving the Vultures, was released in 1999 through Willowtip Records. In the same year, Circle of Dead Children released Exotic Sense Decay as a CD-EP on Willowtip Records. Following the release, they parted ways with original bass player David Good and signed with Necropolis Records' subsidiary label Deathvomit Records for The Genocide Machine (2001). The album received numerous accolades and ranked number 9 in the College Music Journal hardrock charts.
