Yaco Monti, born Julio César Eugenio on December 18, 1944, in Villa Mercedes, San Luis, Argentina, was an Argentine melodic singer-songwriter and actor. From a young age, Monti was drawn to singing due to his vocal abilities and learned guitar under the tutelage of his father while studying at Colegio Militar. He adopted the stage name Yaco from the Bible and Monti from his mother's surname. In 1966, he traveled to Uruguay to participate in the Festival Internacional de la Canción Parque del Plata, where he competed against notable figures like Palito Ortega and Violeta Rivas. His performance of "Siempre te recordaré" earned him intense applause and victory, leading to a contract with EMI Odeon. In 1969, he recorded a double LP in Paris with French orchestra director Frank Pourcel. Monti also composed songs for other artists, including Leonardo Favio and Imelda Miller. His notable songs include "Volveré a San Luis", "Amor desesperado", and "La nave del olvido". He died on September 18, 2025.
