Hip Young Things, a rock band from Bielefeld, Germany, formed in 1988. The group initially featured Brit Bordeaux on vocals but underwent a change in 1990 when she left and Dirk Dresselhaus took over vocal duties alongside his role as guitarist. That same year, Hip Young Things supported the Walkabouts on their European tour and subsequently signed with Glitterhouse Records. Their debut album, Deflowered, was released in 1992. The band followed up with the acoustic EP Root’n Varies in 1993 and returned to their experimental rock sound with Shrug in 1994. They performed live with acts such as Beck, The Ramones, and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Their final album, Ventilator, released in 1996, shifted toward a more pop-oriented sound. Hip Young Things disbanded in 1997.
