Black Heat was an American funk band active in the 1970s, founded by King Raymond Green and discovered by Phillip Guilbeau. The group released its self-titled debut studio album, Black Heat, in 1972, which featured the guest artist David “Fathead” Newman. The band's breakthrough came with the single “No Time to Burn” from the second studio album, No Time to Burn (1974), which reached the top 50 on the Billboard R&B chart. The group released its third and final studio album, Keep on Runnin, in 1975. The members later reunited for a memorial concert for their original producer at Atlantic Records, Joel Dorn, which marked the first time they had performed together in over 34 years.
