James Leusink, known professionally as Ephixa, was born on April 13, 1990, in Ontario, Canada, and is a Canadian electronic music producer. He began playing keyboard at age eight and later guitar, joining various bands. His interest in electronic music started while developing video games, leading to the creation of soundtracks for his projects. His breakthrough came with "Charlie Sheen Bi-Winning Dubstep" (2011), a viral remix that garnered over 700,000 views within two days. He co-founded Monstercat and released notable tracks such as "Dubstep Killed Rock 'n' Roll" (2011). In November 2011, he peaked at number 11 on Billboard's Next Big Sound chart. After a hiatus in 2013, he returned with independent releases like "Catfish" (2014) and rejoined Monstercat for "Matches" (2016), featuring Aaron Richards. In 2020, the electronic music duo Half an Orange released the EP Mostly We Grow Pt. 3, which featured their electro-rock collaboration with his “Time Travel Kool Aid”.
