Zen Zila

Zen Zila was a French alternative rock ensemble from Villeurbanne established in 1992. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by French rock with oriental influences and lyrics in French and Arabic. The ensemble was founded by the vocalist Wahid Chaib and the guitarist Laurent Benitah. They achieved professional recognition for a career that began after the founders met while working as social workers and decided to share their interest in music and human relations. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Le Mélange sans appel (2000). Zen Zila achieved professional recognition for the studio recording 2 Pull-Overs 1 Vieux Costard (2003) and the studio recording Mais où on va comme ça ? (2005). The ensemble achieved professional recognition for the song “Zéro” (2005) and the song “L'Ami béni” (2005). Their discography included the studio recording Gueules de terriens (2008) and the eponymous studio recording Zen Zila (2010). Zen Zila achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Welcome Marhaba (2014) and performing on a final tour. The group became inactive following a final performance on July 31, 2016.
