Mar de Grises was a death-doom band formed in 2000 in Santiago, Chile. The group released their debut album, The Tatterdemalion Express, in 2004 via Firebox Records, following a demo from 2002. This release marked the beginning of international recognition for Mar de Grises, which included performances at notable festivals such as the Firebox Festival in Finland and Doom Shall Rise in Germany. The band's subsequent albums, Draining the Waterheart (2008) and Streams Inwards (2010), released through Firedoom Music and Season of Mist, respectively, further solidified their status within the metal community. Mar de Grises disbanded in 2013. Their albums The Tatterdemalion Express and Draining the Waterheart were reissued on vinyl by The Vinyl Division in 2020.
