SSD, an American hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts, was formed in 1981 by drummer Chris Foley, bassist James Sciarappa, and guitarist Al "Lethal" Barile, under the name SS Decontrol, short for Society System Decontrol. They released their demo, How Much Art. In 1982, SSD released their first album, The Kids Will Have Their Say, on XClaim! Records with distribution by Dischord Records. The following year saw the release of the EP Get It Away. In 1984, they switched to Modern Method Records and released How We Rock. After moving to Homestead Records, SSD released their album, Break It Up, in 1985. Shortly after a performance with Jerry’s Kids in April 1985, the band announced their disbandment. In 1992, Taang! Records released the compilation Power.
