Forest of Shadows, a Swedish metal band, was founded in 1997 by Niklas Frohagen. Initially experimenting with samples and acoustic guitar, Frohagen transitioned to electric guitar and formed the band's first lineup, which quickly disbanded due to musical differences. He then released his first songs, "Moments in Solitude" and "Novembers Dream", on the demo Under the Dying Sun. In 1998, he released The Silent Cry, followed by a promotion CD in 1999 featuring a cover of Katatonia's "Rainroom". The band's first live performances in 2000 were marred by technical issues and lineup changes despite signing with Molded Skull Productions. In 2001, the band signed with Rage of Archilles and released Where Dreams Turn to Dust (2001). Frohagen continued as a solo artist, releasing the album Departure in 2004. Subsequent albums include Six Waves of Woe (2008) and Among the Dormant Watchers (2018).
