South Shore Commission was an American soul and funk group from Washington, D.C., formed in the late 1960s. The ensemble included Warren Harding Hagood II, Sidney Lanier Pinchback II, David Thomas Henderson, David Abner Scott, Armed Allen McIntosh, Joe Hudson, Melvin Moore, Kenny Anderson, Sheryl Henry, Frank McCurry, Eugene T. Rogers, and Lantz Arnell. Their recordings include the single “Right On Brother” (1970). The group achieved recognition with the single “Free Man” (1975), which reached number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 9 on the R&B chart, and Number 1 on the disco chart. Their discography includes the self-titled album South Shore Commission (1975). Subsequent recordings include the singles “We're on the Right Track” (1976), which reached number 94, and “Train Called Freedom” (1976), which reached number 86. The band became inactive in the late 1970s.
