Kommunity FK is an American deathrock and gothic rock band from Los Angeles formed in 1978. The ensemble was established by vocalist Patrick Mata, whose influences include Throbbing Gristle, David Bowie, and Joy Division. Originally named Kommunity Fuck, the group shortened the title following rejections from media and venue talent buyers. They achieved professional recognition for helping establish the deathrock scene in California. They released their debut studio album, The Vision and the Voice (1983), with a lineup featuring Mata, drummer Matt Chaikin, and bassist CE CE. Their recording career includes the studio recording Close One Sad Eye (1985), which featured the track “Something Inside Me Has Died” (1985). After Chaikin departed to join an early lineup of Jane’s Addiction, the ensemble resumed activity in 2008 as a duo with Sherry Rubber. Their discography includes the compilation Abandoned Here... Planet Ruled By Bastards (1979-2008) (2008) and the studio recordings La Santisima Muerte (2010) and Thee Image & Thee Myth (2015).
