Sarah Gillespie is a British-American singer-songwriter, poet, and producer. She began composing songs on piano at age four and took up guitar at 13. At 18, she moved to the United States, busking and performing gigs, before returning to London to earn a first-class degree in Film and Literature and an MA in Politics and Philosophy from Goldsmiths, University of London. Gillespie’s debut album, In The Current Climate (2011), was followed by The War on Trevor (2012), Glory Days (2013), Roundhouse Bounty (2016), Wishbones (2018), and Susannah Threw A Helicopter (2021). She has collaborated with prominent jazz musicians, including Chris Montague, Kit Downes, Laura Jurd, James Maddren, and Ruth Goller. Gillespie’s musical style blends folk, blues, and jazz influences with poetic lyrics. In 2020, she founded the Create Now Academy to mentor women in songwriting and creativity, and in 2025 launched the non-profit initiative She Writes Songs, hosting events in the UK and the US.
